56,000 US bridges ‘deficient’

Around 56,000 bridges have been deemed structurally deficient, according to a report from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA)

The data comes from the recently released ARTBA 2017 Bridge Report, which also highlights that 1,900 of the deficient structures are on the Interstate Highway System. 

The length of the nation’s structurally deficient bridges, if placed end-to-end, would stretch 1,276 miles - half the distance from New York to LA, ARTBA revealed.... Read more
